Since my last post from ages and ages ago, Zane celebrated his second Easter. Here's a shot of him climbing to check out his Easter basket and all of the goodies inside - this is probably the last year they will all be non-edible goodies, but he was pretty excited about it. He got a new book about a bunny ("other bunny book," not to be confused with "bunny book"), a potty book that he loves (still no progress there! just interest that goes up and down on a regular basis - I honestly don't think any of us is ready for that though!), a t-shirt with a picture of a truck carrying a giant soccer ball, and a couple other little things.
We spent part of the morning at a nearby playground that we hadn't checked out in a while, and he can climb on all of the equipment a lot easier than the last time we were there!
Then we went to brunch with our good friends, where Zane got to meet the Easter Bunny in person. I wasn't sure if he was going to be terrified of the bunny this year, but he most definitely was not! Especially after he got to pick out a hershey kiss from his basket. :)
After his late nap on Easter Sunday, Zane woke up with a 101 fever :( It never went any higher, and it stayed at 99 or below the whole next day... so Zane and I only had to take one sick day, and I think that was his shortest fever to date! He was his usual busy self most of Monday, doing things like driving his recycle truck down the stairs. I still think it had something to do with us keeping him up late Saturday night running errands and having dinner late and then throwing his nap off with brunch on top of teething.
Then last Saturday we kept him up late again to go to his very first baseball game (thanks Kimberly and Tal!!). He had a good time cheering on the Mariners, getting some baseball pointers from Daddy, and making friends with the few other people in our section - it worked out pretty well for us that it wasn't crowded where we were sitting, so we couldn't annoy anyone with our squirmy 2 year old in a crowded space :) He also ate a lot of peanuts!
In baby news, I had an especially not-so-graceful moment last Sunday and took a spill on our walk home from dinner. My ob's office suggested I head in to get checked out and make sure everything was fine, and all is well... since I was just about 25 weeks along at the time, I had to stick around to be monitored for 4 hours. Not fun, but we did get reassurance that everything was still fine, and the unplanned ultrasound confirmed again that he's a boy. :)
Zane now points to my belly when you ask him where the baby is... pretty cute! It doesn't hurt that there are many pregnant moms at his daycare, and two of his most favorite teachers are pregnant too. Lots of big bellies in his world!
In the past week, Zane has gotten really into talking about his day right before bed... I've been trying to get it out of him earlier in the evening, but so far it just all comes tumbling out right before he goes to sleep. I can usually understand about half of what he's saying, and it helps a lot when I remember to read the lesson plan posted on the wall for the day when I pick him up :) He also sang "itsy bitsy spider" and "wheels on the bus" with the hand motions in the middle of it all tonight... I think he was pretty tickled about that - he's been singing them off and on for a while now, but he hadn't really gotten the hand motions going with them before.
Night, night for now...
