All sorts of stuff has been going on with Zane this past week. As you can see from the picture above, he's very excited and proud of the fact that he can stand up without holding on!! He pretty much makes that face every time too.
Yogurt, tofu, berries, peas and kiwi are all very much in favor for him at the moment. It still amazes me how much he loves plain yogurt and tofu (his Grandma Mary would be very tickled by that after we refused the tofu hot dogs she attempted to feed us as kids!!).
Zane's been working hard on his vocabulary. He's definitely saying "baby" a lot now, and he's working on saying "cow" and "moo," except it sounds more like "caw," like a crow sound. He says "uh-oh" now if one of us drops something (sometimes he drops something on purpose), and it kind of blends together like "uhohhh." That one makes me even more aware of how much of a klutz I am!! I've also convinced myself that he means mommy when he says "me-me" now. Just because I said that, it'll turn out to be Molly. But that's ok too. We spent a lot of time working on petting her gently... still a work in progress.
It was just Zane, Molly and me this weekend, and it was a busy one. On Saturday morning, Zane was laughing really big, and I caught a glimpse of something white near the roof of his mouth... his first molar has arrived! I'm not sure exactly when it came through, but there's a lot of it showing already. That explains some of the ear tugging he was doing... He's at 8 teeth now, and I'm still waiting for the one that I thought was going to be #8 to surface. :) I'm horrible at predicting teeth!!!
Zane got to cruise around in a shopping cart before nap, and then later on I took Zane and Molly out for a short run to enjoy our sunny (cold) weather. Then...while we were playing around his activity table, Zane kept letting go and sticking his hands up in the air (just like the picture above), and then something even more magical happened... he took steps!! He went sideways about 4 steps before grabbing onto his table a few times, and then he left the table and took a few steps over to me. It was very exciting!!! He was very smiley and giggly about it for a few minutes. So was I. :)
Yesterday we played in the parking lot behind our house with his walker, and Zane was all over the place! Then he helped me with a little art project, which was the first time we attempted finger paint at home:
Then this morning before school, Zane got to show his daddy how he can stand and take a few steps without holding on!! YAY :) We'll see if Zane takes off walking now, or if he stops for now and then comes back to it like he has with other milestones... I think the allure of walking is a pretty big one for him, but he is super speedy when he's crawling now. We get to just wait and see... :)
