flying solo

For the first time, I spent three nights away from Zane!  The boys handled it just fine, and even went out for brunch just the two of them one day and hit the zoo another.  I knew they'd be fine, but I'm so proud of them anyway!  And just as importantly, I survived too.  Since it went so smoothly, maybe I need to plan a few more trips.... :)

As always, Zane had a busy week, and he saved one of his biggest new moments for when I got home.  After the boys picked me up from the airport, we went out for an early dinner, and Zane figured out how to drink from a straw!  We've tried to let him drink water from a straw several times now - usually when we forget to bring a sippy cup for him - but it clicked all of a sudden for him this time.  He was pretty pleased with himself, and he slurped down a lot of water. He was well hydrated! :)

Zane's now practically running when he gets really excited, and occasionally he even catches his balance after speeding up and saves himself from a tumble.  I'm excited about that development!  I think all of his bruises and scrapes hurt me just as much, if not more!  He also says "woof woof" now when he sees dogs or pictures of dogs, including Molly.  It's pretty cute.

So while I was gone, I got to go visit one of my best friends in Sitka, Alaska!  We saw 4 eagles at the end of a hike, and I managed to get some pictures of them and the gorgeous scenery:
