date night

Since someone's out of town for work, Zane and I went on a little date last night to go shopping and get dinner :) I'm excited to say that it was mostly smooth sailing! The hardest part was going from his stroller back into the car to go to the pet store. It's always hard to go from car to stroller to car for him though, and on our way back to the car, we zoomed around the giant basketball and soccer ball in front of Sports Authority. It was hard to say goodbye. I'm pretty sure a few rows of cars to either side of us could hear him yelling, "No! Ball!!!" as I wrestled him back into his car seat. :)

But I was true to my word, and there was no stroller for the pet store. We ran around and checked out all the animals - ferrets, guinea pigs, birds, turtles, fish, frogs, lizards, more turtles... We had to circle back to both sets of turtles a few times. Zane really likes the turtles at school, so I'm used to visiting turtles before we leave in the afternoon now. :) They have a newt right now in the toddler room, but there are turtles in the 3's and 5's rooms. And Zane knows this. :)

Then after our very exciting trip to petco, we went to chipotle for dinner. Yum! Zane at almost half of his little quesadilla, chugged his milk (through a straw!), and ate a few bites of rice and beans. He mostly dipped ("dip, dip, dip") his chips ("crackers") in the beans. It was a fun date!

Overall, Zane had a pretty good week at school, and he got to debut his UPS costume at the family Halloween party Friday night. His teacher, Miss Stacy, commented on his word explosion the last couple of weeks, so I know I'm not going crazy - he really is talking a lot! He's even occasionally stringing 3 words together. Like this weekend with "where daddy go?"

Our little UPS man is looking forward to handing out candy tomorrow night :)
