bye bye binkie

May 2014

The boys are playing (cooperatively!) together more and more, like digging through the LEGO bin and building together in the picture above.  One day when they were being silly bouncing in Caden's crib together, Zane even blurted out, "I love Caden!"
The month of May included a lot of t ball, practices and games, birthday parties and play dates.
Another thing that kept our days full was getting our old house ready to put on the market.  The lease ended in April, and it was up for sale and under contract by the end of the month!  Zane had a lot of "when we lived in the old house" stories, but Caden was only 4 months old when we moved.  They had fun meeting the painters to redo the interior, and on Mother's Day, these two helpers were with me to touch up the front porch.  Amazingly, we only ended up with a few splotches of paint on us!
Caden is getting bigger by leaps and bounds, already taking over the driver's seat:
His new words and phrases include I want see, hold me, up, light, hot, cold, Zane (that z is a tricky sound!), friends' names from school, happy, I want some, and "pee top" (please stop).  They learn a 3 step process at school for when someone is doing something they don't like.  First, say "please stop," next repeat it a little louder/more firmly, and finally go get help.  Needless to say, Zane gives him plenty of opportunities to practice at home, and it's hard not to chuckle as Caden yells, "PEE TOP!" because it comes out so cute.
Caden also said farewell to his beloved binkie!  His dentist gave us until his second birthday to get rid of it so that his front teeth could finish growing in without any issues, so we waited until after our baby tour of Texas was over to get started.  It was relatively painless, and he was a champ.  Once he was falling asleep at night without it, he successfully napped at home one weekend and went back to school without it.  Just like that, he was a binkie free kid!
I think the picture above is just funny.  This is what happened when Zane and Daddy got antsy waiting for team pictures while Caden and I were over at the playground.
Around mid-month, Grandma and Grandpa came to visit, and we all went on an adventure to Orcas Island for Carl and Erin's wedding.  We all loaded into a minivan and set off for the ferry on Friday.

On Saturday afternoon, the boys had a great time playing with Grandma and Grandpa, and we had fun at the wedding.
 Ferry boats are pretty awesome!
The last weekend of the month, I had a work retreat in Chelan, so the boys had a fun boys' weekend (plus Molly) together!
One more cute picture; Zane wanted to practice using his swim goggles in the bathtub one night.
