hot, hot, hot

This week, Zane's been busy as usual.  He learned how to open the doors around our house - like his bedroom door, bathroom doors, the front door... our door knobs are the kind with a lever rather than a round knob, so he's got them figured out now that he can reach them on his tip toes.  We're in trouble :)  Well, not too much trouble yet while he can't climb out of his crib!

Zane also had another big first - he had his first pacifier-free night on Friday!  It was a success!  I ended up rocking him longer than usual - I still rock him for 5 minutes while we have a quick recap of his day and chat about what's coming up the next day... cheesy, but I love it! It's generally long enough for him to settle down, so he's usually still awake when I put him in his crib, but he falls asleep pretty quickly.  Without the pacifier, he "talked" to me a lot more and gnawed on his teddy bear quite a bit... so I rocked him for about 15 minutes to get him to the same place we usually get to in 5, but he fell asleep just fine. 

Unfortunately, we only made it one night without it.  Saturday Zane woke up from his nap with a fever. :(  He stayed toasty for the rest of the weekend, and his fever hit its highest point the last two mornings at about 104 F.  The pediatrician said it's almost certainly a viral infection, so we're just continuing his ibuprofen, lots of fluids, and waiting...

Zane did get to go to his very first wedding on Saturday!  Some friends of ours got married along Lake Washington, and he got to attend.  He even got to enjoy his very first mariachi band... we would have expected that first to happen in Texas rather than Seattle!

He also got to play with his very first set of golf clubs (which his daddy is incredibly excited about!).  Having a new toy helped him get through some of his rocky points. :)
