The week of December 2nd, Caden did a 180 and finally started loving books after being totally offended by the idea of sitting still for more than a page or two for so long. All of a sudden he started grabbing books out of his basket, or off of the shelf in Zane's room or downstairs, and kept handing them to us one after the other. It was pretty cute! Around that time, Zane added one of his favorite books, "Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site," to Caden's basket to share it with him (although I think that had more to do with me finding out Zane's secret that he could recite the book from start to finish almost completely on his own, and I tried to get him to read it with me a few times like he did with daddy.... which somehow made it go out of favor... but just for a little while).
On Monday evening, it was sleeting/hailing/raining around the time we came home from school, and the grass was still all frosty white in the morning. Zane informed me that the grass was not icy, but in fact it was covered with snow. Which prompted him to ask if it was Christmas yet, "did Santa come to my house?"and then, "why not?" followed by, "but it snowed!!!"
That weekend we went to Alki to see the Christmas ships come by like we have almost every year since moving to Seattle. It was really cold and extremely windy, so even though the boys were all bundled up, we only lasted for a couple of Christmas carols before we bailed and went to dinner at a nearby restaurant.
