Caden woke up with a hoarse sounding cough on Monday December 16th, but he was still in a good mood. That morning at breakfast, he played a new peek-a-boo game where he hid by scrunching his eyes shut. I love that picture! Usually he just hides by putting his lovey over his face on the changing table and giggling and wiggling when you call out, "Caaaaden," like you are looking for him. It's a pretty fun game.

On Tuesday, he definitely had croup, but without a fever. The nurse said to treat it like a cold as far as school goes, but he ended up coming home early that afternoon because his breathing was getting labored. So we hung out in a steamy bathroom for about 20 minutes before his appointment with the pediatrician. That definitely helped, and it gave me ample opportunity to catch a video of his cough. After a dose of steroids, he was doing a a lot better. By Thursday he sounded normal again with just a regular cough.
Zane's class gives compliments every day as part of their morning meeting. Since he started in the 4's class (discovery), we have gotten a lot of, "I like your shirt" comments, and I get the occasional, "I like your socks. They are lovely." On Wednesday evening at dinner, I got the sweetest compliment by far when Zane said out of the blue, "mommy, I really like the way you read books to me at night." I might have read an extra book or two that night...

My office holiday party was that Thursday evening, so Miss Jess came over for dinner and bedtime with the boys. We took a picture of the Christmassy wheel for Zane on our way.

The next morning, we woke up to snow! There was a two hour delay, so we took our time getting ready.

Then we made a little 2 foot tall snowman after breakfast. I also attempted to make a tiny snow dog at Zane's request. We did our best to enjoy the snow before it all melted within a couple of hours later.

On Saturday, Zane and I went to a friend from school's birthday party. It was a pajama party, so Zane was extra excited. He had been asking me almost daily if it was her party day for weeks! We had a great mama/Zane date while daddy and Caden stayed home for nap. They missed out!
