Happy Easter, ztm!!!!

St. Patty's Day came and went, and all of a sudden, we have a new holiday to celebrate with baby Z. Clearly, we're more excited than he is, but he's smiling more so he must be starting to comprehend the world around him. It won't be long before he's got a tennis racket or golf club in his hands, and getting tickets for his daddy to watch him compete in professional tournaments!

People often ask us how we chose the name Zane Taylor. Believe me, it was a process. With Indian, Italian, and Scotch-Irish backgrounds, we looked to names from these regions. The criteria were that we wanted a name that was unique, memorable, and short (because he already has such a long last name to learn!). We never fell in love with any of these names, so we also looked to certain letters that resonated. My mom's name inspired the "Z"--and the name Zane that we found and really liked was actually a subset of my mom's name! Seemed ideal :)

Taylor was not tied to our backgrounds in any way--it was more of a name that we both liked, flowed well with his first and last names, and gave us the initials ZTM. Why ZTM, you might ask? The silly reason is that my favorite food is Chicken Tikka Masala, affectionately referred to as CTM. So, Zane's become my favorite ZTM. And there you have it. We considered sticking to the traditional father's first name as the child's middle name, but we didn't like how it sounded as a whole.

Here's a pic of Zane getting his Easter basket. I think he might be concerned that the candy will spoil by the time he gets teeth and can chew solid foods. Fair concern, son...fair concern.
