Zane got to go to two different cook outs this weekend and see lots of friends (big and small). Some of our friends hosted their third annual "local off" featuring at least one local ingredient in each dish. It was "yummy" as Zane now says! We always have to each make our own dishes, so our family was represented by three cheese crescent dogs with bacon (local hot dogs, cheese and bacon) and cherry ice cream sandwiches with chocolate/chocolate chunk cookies (local cherries, butter, eggs, and Theo chocolate) - can you guess his and hers?? ;) I'm bummed we forgot to take pictures!
The other highlight of Zane's weekend by far was puddle stomping in the giant puddle that forms behind our house. While we were staying out of the kitchen so that the crescent dogs could be baked, I took Zane out in some shorts and water shoes... he made a bee line for the puddle!
Another fun Zane development is that his helping is now more helpful - like with laundry. When we're moving clothes from the washing machine to the dryer and I hand him something, he'll stick it in the dryer now when I ask him to :) He also loves to close the garage door when we get home in the evening. Really, any kind of button or knob or switch is exciting!
He's been adding more and more words to his vocab too, and he even calls Molly a "good girl." :) He met two really big dogs this weekend and said "puppy! woof, woof," and then called them Molly (aka, "mommy"). He also loves to point out birds and planes in the sky, and he usually waves and says "bye-bye" to the planes. Zane can also point to and say belly, eye, nose, ear, foot and head.
He's also getting really good at saying "no!" Like when we have to change his diaper, or it's time for bed or he doesn't want to do something. Zane's a real toddler now for sure :)
