z is for ziti

I haven't been very good about updating the blog!  Zane's been busy as usual since the last post.  He got to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa a few days last week since they were on the west coast for a wedding already, so he got to work on saying their names. :)

He also totally chowed down on some ziti over the weekend - the bowl was almost full when it started out in the picture above... and it was empty when he finished!  I also have to brag about how much better he's gotten with using his spoon and fork.  Don't get me wrong, it's still a messy adventure, and he generally dives in with his hands too after a few scoops, but he can make it almost halfway through an applesauce cup without any backup.  Way to go Zane!

He still keeps me guessing though - last night he decided his bowl would make a good hat even though it was still pretty full of strawberries and yogurt.  I wasn't quick enough to stop him!  Here's a picture of the aftermath:

On Sunday, Zane got to visit his very first national park when we took a quick day trip to Rainier National Park.  We drove up to Paradise (about 5,400 feet), and Zane got to stomp around in the snow:

His favorite part of the trip was definitely the Narada Falls - "water!!!  ooh!  bird!  water!!!"  That pretty much sums it up :)

So back when I said Zane had 12 teeth, I was wrong.  He had 11 - somehow I imagined his 4th molar, but it's here now!  Two points of it broke the surface about a week ago, and today it's about half way out.  It also looks like he's got some more teeth about to burst through.  He was a little cranky tonight, so I'm blaming his teeth! :)  I think we all appreciated the break we had between new teeth!

Zane also got to go to his Little Gym class on Saturday.  It pretty much confirmed that he's a ham, and I somehow managed to have child that's not shy! :)  Ok, so I think I hit all of the highlights...
