onomatopoeia

Boom! Zip! Splat! Zoom! Buzz! Beep! Honk! Zane loves sound words! Of those he says beep (pushing buttons, cars) and boom (think bouncing a ball or crashing a car or blocks), but he thinks sound words in general are hysterical. It makes it fun to zzzzzzip his jacket.

A really cute sound he's making these days is saying "Awwww" when he hugs Molly, one of us or a stuffed animal. We realized we must have been doing that every time he hugged Molly, so he just started doing it himself. Love it!

He got to hear some sirens up close and personal this weekend when we happened upon our neighborhood parade. I had no idea it was happening, but we heard some music and saw lots of people heading up to the Junction, so we went to check it out. We stuck around for the Seattle PD motorcycle demo, followed by the Vancouver PD motorcycle demo (so international!), then Zane's very first marching band, some floats, a couple of celebrity sightings (a couple of Zane's teachers), and a fire truck. Then we had to leave for a late lunch and nap - I was totally unprepared! No snacks, no milk, no camera. At least I had my phone, so here are a couple of shots:

Doesn't he look excited? ;) Remember, no snacks or milk, just water, and it was creeping into nap time. But he was pretty excited once all of the floats got going, and the fire truck got him interested too.

Later that day he got to stick his feet into the chilly Puget Sound when we went to Lincoln Park to enjoy some sunshine (which meant I did too... Brrr).

Zane also got to hang out with some of our friends while we went out to dinner on Friday night (thanks, Carl and Erin!) and then again on Sunday morning while we went to go see Harry Potter (thanks Colleen!). Look out -two babysitter outings in one weekend! We are getting wild and crazy!

We said bye to him when we left on Friday, but we took the chance to head out when he was busy playing to avoid a possible melt down. We found out later that about 5 minutes after we left, he walked over to the gate at the stairs and said, "mama.... Mama? Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Mama? Uh-oh." thankfully no melt down followed and we get to chuckle about it! It sounds like Zane did a good job making sure his guests didn't get bored while we were gone. :)

Later on Sunday, we met up with one of Zane's BFFs at the playground, and it was fun getting to see them in action together. Two very busy little boys! Too much action to take pictures though.
