50 weeks

Monday, July 8th, Caden turned 50 weeks old. He was working on all of his mobility skills, including his stair climbing. He was really wanting to walk and would prefer for us to walk around the house while holding his hands and do nothing else! Zane was very supportive of Caden's efforts and kept telling him, "you're doing a good job!" We also officially cut back to 4 bottles a day, which was really mostly Caden's doing that he just dropped the 5th one. It was great timing so that he was down to 24 oz. a day before the big switch to whole milk around his birthday.

Since daddy was out of town most of the week, the boys got to talk to him on face time a bunch. Caden was super excited to see him and even called him Dada when he saw him. He was quite disappointed though anytime I had my phone out and daddy wasn't on it. I thought we would be able to put our new deck box together, but what you see in the picture is as far as we got. Between Caden doing his army crawl all over the pieces, and Zane trying to use them as a ramp for his bike, it was a bust! At least Molly stayed out of the mix for the most part. I think it took 15 minutes in all when I did finally put it together by myself. :)

On Tuesday, Caden came along to Zane's swim class. It went pretty smoothly, but I did get to stand sideways with Caden in the ergo the whole time so that he could watch his big brother and the other kids in the water. Maybe he'll finally get to take his own classes soon! Since the weather was so great, the boys and I had a picnic on Wednesday, and then on Thursday, thanks to Zane and Siri's confusing conversation while I was getting Caden ready for bed, we had an unplanned phone call to a cousin we hadn't talked to in a while! Thankfully with the time difference to the east coast, we didn't wake him up and all had a good chuckle and quick catch up.

Caden also started crawling on his knees here and there! But when he was in a big hurry, he went back to his patented belly slide by pulling himself across the floor. That weekend was the west Seattle summer street fest, so we went a few times, including a Zane and mama only adventure to go to the Caspar Babypants concert. As you can see, it was a pretty happening event for the preschool crowd:

We got our fill of fair food, saw some out of town friends for a fun brunch, and even finally got Zane's hair cut that weekend. It was action packed!

Zane was not a fan while his hair was being cut, but as soon as it was all done, he was all smiles again, especially when he found out he could pick out a treat for being good.
